End-user licence agreement

What your licence lets you do, on how many computers, and what it does not cover.

Last updated 31 October 2026.

The parties

Oktob is sold by BrandSorted (FZE), a free zone establishment licensed by the Sharjah Research Technology and Innovation Park (SRTIP), licence number 10313, at Block B-B51-200, SRTIP, Sharjah, United Arab Emirates ("we", "us"). Write to us at support@oktob.press.

This agreement is between you and us. By installing or activating Oktob, you accept it.

Editions

Author: use Oktob to make your own books, on up to 2 computers.

Professional: use Oktob to make books for clients as well as your own, on up to 5 computers. It includes priority support.

The two editions have the same features.

What a computer is

A computer is one physical or virtual machine on which Oktob is installed and activated with your licence. A phone or tablet is not a computer here, because Oktob does not run on one.

The limit counts computers, not operating systems. You can use your computers in any mix of the operating systems that Oktob supports. Today Oktob is for macOS. If it supports other systems later, a licence can cover a mix of them.

You can move a licence to a new computer. Write to support@oktob.press to free the old computer, then activate the new one.

What you may do

You may install and use Oktob on your licensed computers, in the way your edition allows. You may make a backup copy of the installer.

What you may not do

You may not sell, share or publish your licence, or use it on more computers than your edition allows. You may not copy, rent or resell Oktob. You may not take Oktob apart or rebuild its source, except where a law allows it despite this rule. You may not remove or bypass the licence check.

Your books

Your books and files are yours. We claim no right in them. They stay on your computer.

If you connect an AI app to Oktob, that app sends what it reads to its own provider. That is between you and the provider. Their terms apply, not ours.

Updates and your licence

The licence has no end date. It includes updates for 12 months from the purchase. After that, the version you have keeps working. You can buy an update extension for newer versions.

A refund ends the licence. We switch it off, and Oktob then runs as the free trial.

Free trial

Without a licence, Oktob runs as a trial. You can export a sample of your first chapter. Exporting the whole book needs an activated licence.

Warranty and liability

We build Oktob with care, but it is provided as it is. We do not promise it is free of errors or fits every purpose. Check every export before you print or publish.

To the extent the law allows, our liability to you is limited to the price you paid for the licence. Nothing here limits a liability that the law does not allow us to limit.

Ending the agreement

You can stop using Oktob at any time. We may end your licence if you break this agreement, after we write to you and you do not fix it within 14 days.

Governing law

This agreement follows the laws of the Emirate of Sharjah and the federal laws of the United Arab Emirates. The courts of Sharjah decide disputes, unless a law gives you the right to go to another court.

If we move to a successor company

We plan to move Oktob to a successor company. We may transfer this agreement and Oktob, with your licence to it. We will announce the move on this website and by email to customers before it takes effect, and the successor takes on our duties under this page. The move does not change your rights.

After a move, your licence and your activated computers keep working. You do not need to buy again or use a new computer slot.

Changes

If we change this page, we post the new text here with a new date. A change does not take away a right you already bought.
